Well, tell you what ive been up to today. Woke up with a slight headache coz i couldnt get enough sleep yesterday due to super-emoness and also because i just had to watch Underworld Evolution on TV which finished past midnight. And some more, while i was trying to forget things while in bed, the rain just had to pour and the thunder and lightning just couldnt leave me alone! So yea...the lazy bum couldnt get out of bed. Haiz.
Left home for kampung about 9.30 am. The anticipation of meeting my cousins after so long just made me extremely nervous coz ive heard lots about them. For example, my lil cuzzy Leah, she is half-Bidayuh and half-Indian. So she is a...er...Bi-an? Lol, dont know la. Mongrel like me. =.= Well, anyways...she doesnt look a bit like an Indian! NOTHING SIMILAR. She looks a bit like my dad though. LOLZ. She looks so much like a typical Bidayuh lil girl and guess what? She is speaking Tamil and shaking her head while speaking! How weird or funny could it be? Thats what i needed to find out. On the other hand, my other half-Indian cousin, Abby, she looks 100% Indian but she speaks fluent Bidayuh!!! She puts me to shame coz she is only 2 years old and speaks fluent Bidayuh whereas im...im...i dont understand a fuck of a word what they say everytime!!! LOL. Truth is out. I dont speak BIDAYUH! Dont laugh at me, kay?
So, we went up to our Kampung. Dropped by at Aunt Nawiak's (hell i seriously dunno how to spell her name properly...sorry) house which was on the way to my Grandma's house. Let me tell you, she cooks the best kampung food ive ever tasted in my life. First we have the signature Barbeque Pork. OH...THE PORK!!! YUMMY!!! Damn, you can get the smokey taste in the pork which blends together with the fat and all. Its delicious i can tell you. And no i dont have the picture coz i had a problem taking photos during the start of the trip. So sorry. Then we have the duck. Yes, DUCK! The slaughtered duck was reared by my aunt as well. See, low overhead right? Aunt Nawiak cooked it with ginger and dark soya ketchup...or can say Pak-Lo duck. Not Pak-To ar. Pak-Lo and Pak-To are totally two different things which exist only in parallel universes. Hmm, i overdid it right? Nevermind. The duck was so tender my mouth just cant stop eating. Dang~~~ Maxx, i know you warned me not to put on weight but i seriously could feel my belt getting tighter. Next, we had Chicken Therau...crap i dont know how you spell it. Its chicken, cooked with fermented durian aka tempoyak and lemongrass and sometimes its cook in bamboo or modern ways, pot. The chicken my aunt used was KAMPUNG CHICKEN!!! And do you know how lean kampung chicken flesh can be? No fat under the skin.Whoa! Tasted so good. The soup was so sweet...and remember, no sugar added!!! ALL natural sweetness...ahhh, makes me hungry again even though im blogging near midnight right now. I have the picture of the therau though...but let me tell you, the taste tasted so much better real life than seeing through pictures. =)

Chicken Therau. I wonder, where can you get excellent ones like this in town? One thing i love now is that we dont have to use those 'boats' made of banana leaves as plates for our dishes. Plates and bowls are aplenty!
Well, after the 'heavy' breakfast, we drove a few more kilometres up the windy zig-zaggy road of my kampung all the way to my Grandma's house. There...i met Abby and Leah!!!
This is Abigail also known as Abby. Half-Indian, half-Bidayuh. Mongrel like me too. =S Thats how i looked like when i was small. Yea, dont laugh, i looked a bit like her. Thats why my grandma said she will grow up looking like me too. =.= Blah. Her Bidayuh is so fluent, i swore she called me idiot back there. =X
This is Leah. Yep, my lil cuzzy!!! She speaks Tamil. DAMN! Her dad and mum cant even speak the dialect. Gee. LOL. The picture on the top left is when she came back last year. Look how bald she was. Okay, enough of baldness. Its a sensitive issue from what ive heard of. Leah is a very quiet and shy girl, not an extrovert like Abby (which seriously reminds me of myself). There she is playing with my cousin Eve aka Bo-Neng. LOL. Dont ask me how her nickname came to be like that, but thats what everyone calls her. And to those Hokkien readers out there...her name doesnt coincide with her having no boobs (BO NENG), kay? Leah is so light that Eve can just toss her in the air like a little stuffed animal. =) In the last frame, thats Leah's mum, Aunt Sally. She came back all the way from Penang just for the Gawai celebration. ^^.jpg)
My favorite archway at my Kampung house. It looks simple, and yet nice. Look at the big vase there. I dunno whats inside though. Never peeked in.
So yea, was busy serving guests who arrived to pay a visit to my Nenek. Hmmph... So while i was in the kitchen doing nothing coz i couldnt entertain non-English-speaking visitors, i decided to take some shots of my Nenek's cat.
Clockwise from L to R : The 'Mimiks' looking at me snapping her picture. Its pregnant you know? So the hungry momma cat needed to look for food to feed her little kittens in there so she started to scout the floor for morsels of food from who-knows-mouth which accidentally PUI out while talking nonchalantly. Then 'Mimiks' just loved to rub their fur against anything, so there she was rubbing herself against the leg of the chair while looking at my uncle. And the last picture was taken when she was tired and decided to take a rest. Look how cute...AWW. =)
Was helping my mum...err...guess what i was doing? Plucking pubic hair out from white sticks? Yea, maybe. Guess again...tut...tut...tut...no response from readers. Ok fine! I was shaving jagungs to cook. >< Cant you guys be more co-operative???
So when there wasnt any guests coming to the house in the afternoon, i was so bored...i decided to camwhore as usual.
Clockwise form L to R : Guess what this mischevious face wanted? Grabbed a handful of Anglia Shandy. Drank one can! Not enough. Another can!! Not enough. ANOTHER can!!! Ok, thats enough. BUH, got a slight headache after a few cans and that sucks. So remember, never be a sissy useless drinker like me who gets a headache after 3 cans of shandy and be more of a man and drink real beer or liquor instead. The goodness of shandy...ahh~~~
This is my brother. Thats him when he was studying some stuff for his upcoming exams. So quiet, studious. He is studying to be a great lawyer. Pity Alistair didnt want to be one too. *sigh* After the studying mode was switched to hyperactive mode, he tied a hand towel on his head. Rocker dude! He started explaining funny things to Eve and suddenly...he took the ladle for cooking and starting dancing around with it like its a weapon. WAH CHA, WAH CHA, WHAM!!! Thats how crazy my brother can become.
Well enough pictures of the festivities. Random snaps from yesterday can be posted up too right?
Dinner at a restaurant near my house. Thats me looking weird and testing my dad's camera phone. Even though its a Nokia 6600, it still amazes me a lot. My favorite drink, Lime Juice. Ahh, refreshing!!! Thats my mum being chitty chatty with my dad over there. And thats the doggy which looks so cute and healthy but...dirty!!! Fierce doggy too. =S Butter prawns was ordered but sorry no pictures. I forgot again. This restaurant sells cheap and tasty food. Recommended coz the chef was from Tsui Hua Lou before. So...the food IS good!
Hmm...today...after coming back from kampung, had a lil rest at home...then we headed off to my Chinese Aunt's house to celebrate my Grandfather's belated birthday. Hmm, he is err...77 or 78 years old. And still going on strong if my Ah Ma is too. =) Well, i didnt take any pictures of the event coz...my dad's camera phone's battery died out on me...my brother's phone's camera is just a...plain sucker...and my phone's is a fucking sucker. SO yea...and my cousin Joshua who took the photos...only concentrated and zoomed to take pictures of the cake only. Coz he is a freaking eater. And for his age...he is fucking obese. =.= So...no photos. Too bad.
And thats achieving two things in a day. Gawai and Birthday. =)
And to those who wants to pay me a visit during this yearly celebration, my doors are open. =) Provided you know where my house is and also please call before you turn up at my doorstep. No big celebration. Just a small one catering for chats and so on.
In Berberboo's mind : Im free as a bird right now. Being emo is just my thing, you cant change that. But i can be happy with just a slight event and this has definitely boosted my spirits so that i dont think weird things anymore.
