The Epitome of Disgustingness

I know this post is kinda late seemingly that it happened last weekend but heck what do i care, im pretty darn sick, down with a bad flu and sore throat, and have stiff neck and back which gives me less mobility to turn my head while driving... so yea, pretty dangerous bout of flu... zzzz... hope it gets better by tomorrow if not i need to stay in and spend the Chinese New Year alone with no visiting and no angpows... wtf... i dont want... buh buh...

So yea, speaking of the epitome of disgustingness, i bet none of you have eaten this sort of thing before. And hey, before you think im a weirdo or anything, at least i can say im proud that i know how and have tasted all these kinds of things before so i wont be left starving if i were ever to be left in a swamp. You rotten little town brats are sure to die if no one saves you. MWAHAHAHAHA!!! okay, im being overly cruel here... bleh... what to do... needa puji myself a bit la... =X

My mum bought a sort of leech from the market last week. At first look, i almost felt like puking... coz it looks so fucking gross... but then... well, lets just see...

The little muddy creatures when i first saw them when i ran to the kitchen to see what my brother was eew-ing there... look at those small holes there... those are their asses. You need to poke the scissors through and cut their asses up to their head to clean their intestines... eewww eh?

This is how one solitary creature looks like from up-close. Look at the feelers, the disgusting uneven body contour... ewwwww... and they move so fast i needa catch them with chopsticks to prevent them from crawling outta the sink. Buh...

The rest of them in the glass bowl. Looks pretty gross from where im snapping the shot. I was surprise with the sound they made. Everytime you squeeze their body, they go squeaky squeaky... like those toys that little kids play with.... eek eek eek eekk... hahaha... pretty cute when come to think of it...

When i tried to wash them with tap water... they all seemed to run away from the clean water... and they seemed to crawl out from the glass bowl as fast as they could... run leechy run!!!

I was suppose to cut them ass up when they are alive, but seemingly i didnt dare to do it, i poured hot water onto them and they just curl up and die slowly... geeshhh... seems more cruel, but at least they are less squirmy and i can hold them without them squeaking in my palms... zzzz... those are how they look like after being scalded with hot water, all shrunken and de-stomach... lol... =.= but then, remember when cleaning them, remove the black thingy from their stomach, if not you will get high coz it is poisonous... wont die la... but make you very very high... =X

And after cooking... all i get from a huge glass bowl is a very small ceramic bowl fit to put sauces and such... urghhh... imagine my mum paid like 6 bucks for them... buh... told ya, this kinda things dont come cheap... call them rich man's food... except that they are food for the exotic rich men... zzzz... cooked them with lemon grass and broth... easiest way to cook to retain its sweetness...

These are a few that ive scooped out from the bowl... imagine... from one big one around the size of half of an average human's palm, it shrunk to the size of the tip of my thumb... zzzz... like it shrunk from 100% to 30% like that... what a waste... and those tiny ones the size of my thumb before cooked, it ended up to be the size of soya beans... buh... makan pun tak kenyang... zzzz... and wanna know how they tasted like? YEA... THEY TASTE LIKE CHICKENS' GIZZARDS!!! and im not joking about it... taste pretty good actually...

The only downside is the cleaning task... they are so slimy and ewwwwwy... and they can slip off your fingers at any time... zzzz... i spend like almost an hour cleaning them... what with being so small and my fingers are so gigantic... zzzz... hard task there...

So yea, go to your nearest market to get your hands on these Nipah leeches... dont worry, they dont suck your blood, they are pretty tame... come to think of it, reminds me of little mouseys who squeaks squeaks all the time... and this is gonna be the year of the rat too... OMG... COINCIDENCE... BLEH...

So, where do i sign up to replace Andrew Zimmerman for being the host of Bizarre Food on Travel and Living? Lol, joking...

In Berberboo's mind: I was put here for a reason, when i was born into this world... it is for you to find out, what im doing here... hear that, Mr Lau? zzzz... i wanna go and watch Kung Fu Dunk tomorrow le... but no one is free enough to accompany me... sighs... that sucks when everyone is celebrating and you're not... zzzz... i should have gone back to Sibu... buh

It has more in common with the sea cucumber than the leech, actually. You can say that it's some sort of a freshwater cucumber.
